What is a Celebrant?

Celebrants are professionally trained in ceremony creation, giving people the freedom to come together and celebrate or honour a significant life event with those closest to them. This can be in a spiritual or non spiritual way. What is of most importance is recognising these key moments in our life’s wheel in an unique and special way. A celebrant will tailor the contents of a ceremony or event to reflect the life of the individual or individuals.

Celebrants are independent, not representing any religion and thus can facilitate incorporating many differing beliefs into one ceremony - marking life’s milestones from birth through till death.

A celebrant holds the space for you to acknowledge and share important events such as births, marriages, naming, deaths, retirement and puberty, in a way that you find personal and appropriate and wish to share with your community. Celebrants believe the ceremony should be about the person and will work with you, your family and friends to produce a personal and life centred ceremony relevant to you and your loved ones.
