Naming Ceremonies

If, like a growing number of parents, you would like to celebrate the birth of your child but have decided against a christening, alternatives such as a blessing or naming ceremony are becoming increasingly popular. Naming ceremonies are a fantastic way celebrate the arrival of a new baby with friends and family, can be held for children of any age, and are also becoming popular for welcoming adopted or step-children into the family.

You can include religious content if you wish, making these types of ceremony ideal for families with mixed religious backgrounds. I Offer a script-only service which provides the structure for you to customise, or I will lead the ceremony for you and safely hold the space. There is no set script for a naming ceremony. Like every ceremony I create each naming is tailored to meet the particular family’s requirements.

Naming Ceremonies involve you making a commitment to the responsible and loving parenting of your child, and your community, friends and family committing to support you in that process and, importantly, to support your child. Baby Naming Ceremonies are a most wonderful way to welcome new children, whether they are babies born into the family or children adopted into the family. I will work with you to create a ceremony that fully recognises and celebrates children as an important part of the family unit.
